Microneedling in Aveley, South Ockendon

Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses very fine needles to create tiny, controlled channels in the skin. Your skin responds by repairing itself, which supports collagen production and gradually improves the look of texture, pores, fine lines and acne scarring.

Results build over a course of treatments rather than overnight. Before I microneedle anyone, I check your skin, medical history and current products, so the treatment is safe and suited to you.

Who it helps

  • Uneven texture and enlarged-looking pores
  • Shallow acne scarring and post-breakout marks
  • Fine lines and early loss of firmness
  • Dull skin that needs more than a facial
  • Anyone wanting gradual, natural-looking improvement

What to expect

  1. Consultation first. I go through your medical history, medication and skincare. Microneedling isn't suitable for everyone, for example during pregnancy, or over active breakouts, infection or cold sores.
  2. Prepare your skin. Stop retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs and strong actives 7 days before your appointment.
  3. Your treatment. Your skin is cleansed and prepared, then microneedled. Afterwards it will feel warm and look pink.
  4. Aftercare. Keep your skin completely bare for the first day: no products, no SPF and no washing for 24 hours, and stay out of the sun. Start your SPF from day 2. Full written aftercare is given after your treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Does microneedling hurt?

Most clients describe it as a prickly, scratchy feeling rather than pain. Some areas are more sensitive than others, and I check in with you throughout.

How long will my skin be red?

Skin usually looks pink, a bit like mild sunburn, for a day or two. Everyone heals differently, and I will tell you what to expect for your skin.

How many treatments will I need?

One treatment can improve glow and texture, but collagen builds slowly. For scarring, texture and fine lines, a course of treatments spaced several weeks apart gives the best results. Your plan is agreed at consultation.

Can I have microneedling if I have active acne?

Not over active, inflamed breakouts, because needling can irritate the skin and spread bacteria. I will usually calm active acne first, for example with an Acne Essential Facial or LED, before moving on to microneedling.

Is microneedling suitable for darker skin tones?

It can suit all skin tones, as it doesn't use heat. Any skin can develop pigmentation after inflammation, so preparation and aftercare matter, and I will talk you through this at consultation.

Can I have microneedling when pregnant?

Microneedling isn't recommended during pregnancy. The Pregnancy-Safe Glow Facial is designed for this stage.
