What to expect

Consultation first. We talk about your skin, medication and what you've already tried, so the treatment suits you.
Your treatment. Deep cleansing, exfoliation, extractions where appropriate, then a clarifying mask and LED, or a resurfacing peel, depending on the treatment you book.
Aftercare. After a Back Resurfacing Peel, keep your back dry until the next day. Wear loose, breathable clothing and use SPF on any skin that's exposed to the sun.
Between appointments. Shower soon after exercise, wash gym kit and bedding regularly, and follow the homecare I recommend.

Frequently asked questions

What causes back acne?

The same things that cause acne on the face: excess oil, dead skin blocking pores, bacteria and inflammation. Sweat, tight clothing, rucksack straps and hormones can all make it worse.

How many treatments will I need?

Back skin is thicker and slower to respond than the face, so a course of treatments gives the best results. I'll suggest a plan based on how your skin responds.

Will treatment help the dark marks?

The Back Resurfacing Peel is designed to improve the look of post-breakout marks and rough texture over a course of treatments. Marks fade gradually, and SPF on exposed skin helps stop them darkening.

Should I see my GP?

If your back acne is painful, with deep lumps or cysts, or is leaving scars, please speak to your GP as well, as prescription treatment may be needed. I'm happy to work alongside it.
